Christmas is coming and knifes are getting sharpened!!!

Dear Reader,

It's the festive season, but festive isn;t a word many of us feel when we get the 'pleasure' of having to see our ex's and put on a show for the sake of the children, when all you want to do is sharpen the carving knife and dig it in (especially if your break up's recent and things are far from settled). So here are Kate & Emily's top tips to help you bite your tongue, remain saintly and out of prison........

etc etc

Top tip number 1

Be realistic. If you are sure you can pull off a Fergie and Andrew style christmas then go for it, if you are not sure you can do without an explosion of tears , fury and emotion then DO NOT ATTEMPT.

You may feel shocking but do do do do do keep this away from the children

Remember this is not about the parents sharing the children at christmas but for the children to have a good time at christmas. So when making plans look from the childrens perspective , christmas lasts more than 1 day and there is plenty of time for more than one bit of fetive fun.

If you are on your own at christmas hatch a plan , find a friend and go out for lunch , pack a pic nic and a thermos and have a long walk and a good think or why not volunteer to help Crisis at Christmas , giving lunch to the homeless for example.

If you are feeling wobbly when in contact with Dad , make sure you steer clear of the booze , alcohol is a shocker for stoking a situation up to feverage pitch!!!.

Plan some good cheap simple low key fun. Walks in the park ,Fir cones, hot chocolate , a christmas jigsaw (though proving quite stressful chez Kate as several key pieces are missing).

Focus on the new year. Jan the first 2008 is the beginning of a whole new year so try and have a really good think about some cracking good resolutions .
Next year for example I plan to buy nothing for myself !!!!!! no clothes, no books . I think it will save me money , make me sort out my wardrobe , use the library more and divert my energy away from the High Street. I am also going to give housework a go next year , see what it is all about having a neat and tidy home. At the end of the year , I shall have inner poise a tidy house and as Emily says nasty grey bras !!!!

So here is to the new year . Out with the old and in with the new. Don't feel sorry for yourself if you have no plans for new year , worry not there is nothing worse than new years eve if you are not in the mood. The year before last I was with my mother and Emily was home alone and we had a nice though rather pathetic chat about Robson Green , along the I saw him first lines , as the highlight of the evening.

Our book is out in May , so there's something to look forward to !!!!!!

January workshop is full , February one filling up and we are thinking about running a cyber group in the ther one day , so fear not if you are in ?Scunthorpe you are not out of the picture .

Keep writing in with any thing that is worrying you and we will keep giving out out two penn orth !!!

Happy holidays

Love

Kate and Emily
