Dance Like Nobody Is Watching, one of those feel good tales gives you hope and goosepimples

A lovely little tale

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog. There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death. The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved. "I want to repay you," said the nobleman. "You saved my son's life."

"No, I can't accept payment for what I did," the Scottish farmer replied waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel. "Is that your son?" the nobleman asked. "Yes," the farmer replied proudly.
"I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of." And that he did.
Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin. Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia.
What saved his life this time? Penicillin.

The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill. His son's name?

Sir Winston Churchill.

It's National Friendship Week.

Another one that has been on for a while !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a copy of an email that was sent to me. It may make you cringe, or it may strike a cord, or, most likely, it will do both….

Jeff was the sort of guy you love to hate, always in a good mood and always positive. When someone asked how he was doing, he would reply, “ If I were any better, I’d be twins!’’

He was a brilliant restaurant manager because his waiters followed him around from job to job. They liked his attitude. He was a natural motivator, always finding good in bad.

Seeing this style really made me curious. So one day I went up to Jeff and asked him “I don’t get it! How can you possibly be so positive all the time all of the time?‿

Jeff replied, “each morning I wake up and say to myself, Jeff you have two choices today. You can either be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood. I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life, I choose the positive side of life.’’

‘‘Its not always that easy’’ I protested.

‘’Yes it is’’ Jeff said. ‘’Life is about choices. When you cut away the chunk every situation is a choice. You choose how to react. You choose how people will affect you mood. You choose to be in a good mood or a bad mood. The bottom line is that it is your choice how to deal with life’’’

I reflected on what Jeff had said.

Soon after, I left the industry to start my own business and we lost touch. Then, several years later, I heard that Jeff had done something you never do in the restaurant trade - he left the back door open and had been held up by 3 armed robbers. His hands were shaking so much whilst trying to open the safe that he missed the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him.

Luckily Jeff was found relatively quickly and rushed to the local A & E. After eighteen hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, he came out with fragments still in his body.

I saw Jeff about 6 months after the accident. When I asked him how he was he said ‘’If I were any better I’d be twins!’‘ I asked what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place. He said ‘’the first thought that went through my head was that I should have locked the back door. Then as I lay there I thought I have two choices: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. I chose to live.’’

‘’Weren’t you scared? Did you loose consciousness?’’ I asked.

Jeff laughed;‘’the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I would be fine. But in the emergency room I saw the expressions on the doctors and nurses and got really frightened. In their eyes, I read - he’s a dead man. I knew I had to take action.’’

‘’What did you do?’’ I asked.

‘’Well, there was a nurse shouting questions at me. When she asked if I was allergic to anything, I replied - yes, they all stopped. I took a deep breath and yelled - Bullets! Over their laughter I told them - I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead’’

Jeff lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. Attitude, after all, is everything……..
